Tourists fall prey to con pixmen on Penang Hill (http://www.thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=/2006/8/16/north/15078704&sec=North)

Photographers are believed to be on the prowl on Penang Hill cheating foreigners by collecting money for photographs taken but failing to deliver them as promised.

A recent case was a woman from Indonesia who was said to have paid RM40 to have her photographs taken but never received them.

I have seen photographers plying their trade in Botanical Gardens, Kek Lok Si and a few other tourist places in Penang. All of them use film cameras. I have the opportunity to talk to some of them. Most of them are old timers and have been plying this trade for more than 20 years. Perhaps sometimes the negatives were fouled up and they cannot deliver their goods. In this case they should refund their client...

Maybe there should be some local controls like at the Taj Majal in India?

They should use the Canon CP series of printer. Snap and print on the spot :)

When I was in Turkey, there is this so called 'official' photog who goes all over the hotel taking pix of guest, especially in the swimming pool area, posed them and snap2.

I got my WMD also he don't care, continue to :067: :067: my datin!

Later the next day, upon checking out, this guy set up his 'stall' at the lobby and as the guest walk past, he will sell his 'ware'... nicely PPed pix of the guest with nice frames. Not that cheap and not that expensive either... really botherline pricing. Can say his sales not THAT bad.... can lah cover those pix guest don't want!

Happens most of the places I visited. They shoot first, hv the final product there for you to decide WANT or NOT!

Good idea, maybe we can set up a small booth outside KLCC, take pix and print on the spot. Most PnS dun have lens wide enough to take in the whole KLCC towers. :p

Those kind of fly-by-night operators give our country a bad name. The Government should do something about it. :011:

even if they use film, some photog i found in tourist spot can still manage to processed fast n make it ready when the visitor leave the spot. usualy shoot when they came and try to sell as they leave. when they offer to deliver, me dont suggest to buy coz it could end up in scam
