Hopefully it performs as well in reality and Pentax is going to have Supersonic Motor lenses too, that's great.

Pentamirror instead of pentaprism, though.

Pentamirror instead of pentaprism, though.
I thought it was using pentaprism, at least thats what I understand from this phrase:
"Featuring a glass pentaprism, the K10D's viewfinder offers 96% field of view and a 0.95 times magnification for easy viewing of the subject and effortless confirmation of focus and composition.Coupled with the acclaimed Natural-Bright-Matte II focusing screen, it delivers a large, bright subject image"

Will the viewfinder be the same as OM-1 in terms of brightness and wide view?

But if the specifications are true, then it is a great camera with very affordable pricing. Technically very strong, comparable to the competition and weather sealed. Would certainly get one as upgrade to DS2 even if it uses pentamirror.
Guess we will know for sure by tomorrow am.

HC

You are right. In the specs summary section, it was stated Optical Viewfinder-Pentamirror with Natural-Bright-Matte II-Focussing Screen. Maybe it's a typo error.
Thanks.

It's good to see Pentax come out with a competitive product, especially the price.

Hoho, let's see how it will beat Oly's Weather resistance E-1 and dust removal, Canon's USM and Sony's Anti shake body. It will beat any dSLR in the market today...
But sadly the max ISO is 1600. Probably Pentax felt it is not needed for ISO 3200 when there is Image Stabilizer...
And it finally has ISO 100. But it is kind of bulky though, 790g with battery and SD card. Not really suitable for street photographer like me. Guess i'll stick to my DL at present.

I am happy that Pentax is still strong and coming out with another great competition into the market!
Hopefully ShaShinKi.com will be able to carry some official Pentax products soon...have already contacted the distributor... :)

Finally, other forums will be talking about Pentax now:044: . K10D is going to make the whole market trembles with excitement if not panic. Finally a model that have all the others selling points + breakthrough technology + top of the line spec. Will be eager to see more info from Shriro on local launching.
Anyone contacted Shriro?

Yes can purchase Pentax products from our beloved dealer alr :)
Looking at Pentax forum just now, some Olympus E user also might jump ships. Shows how much hype the Pentax K10D has brought.

The K10D's specification is impressive. The set back, K-mount lenses are going to be on hot demand.

i think shashinki could possibly be sitting on a goldmine here!!
while Pentax gear is still relatively limited in stores, having shashinki offering Pentax mount items would be a real boon for Pentax dslr users here!!
canon/nikon/sony and even olympus stuff can easily be bought in stores,
pentax gear is nowhere to be seen... also, most sell it at near RRP prices.... unlike other brands with are selling much below RRP at times..
we know Shriro is the one providing the stuff.. but retailers need competition before lowering their price !! so shashinki with competitive pricing, hot on the list would be
AF540FGZ or AF360FGZ
50mm 1.4
DA 50-200
and those lovely super/ultra wides 10-17 fisheye & 12-24
for starters

From looking at the lever inside the mount, the camera can use the first two generation of K-mount lenses and meter real time using auto diagphram.

The initial production will only be 13,000 units a month (http://forums.dpreview.com/forums/read.asp?forum=1036&message=20034867), and with Christmas around the corner, I think we can only expect to see K10D on our shore first quarter of next year.

Looks like I have to delay my purchase of DSLR now ...
I wonder when we will know the price of K10D and hopefully a unit for testing? Incidentely, I also noticed many forummers in other photo-websites commented that Pentax lenses sold are much cheaper than Nikon and Canon. For those Pentax users here in M'sia, what is your comments?

Just uploaded Pentax K100D kit set = RM2450 :)
http://shashinki.com/shop/pentax-k100d-camera-with-smcpda-1855mm-f3556-autofocus-lens-p-400.html
Since K110D is just RM100 cheaper, hence I think K100D is much better featured and value for money.
K10D will only be available end of December from Shriro Malaysia. If Japan set, will be available end of Oct :)
