Just got back from Digicolor. They have "Canon" & "Nikon" vest. Didn't ask the price thou. Nothing much unless you need a cheapo lens cap or any other cheapo accesories.
well, if u into studio lighting, the accesoories are waaaay cheape than regualr branded items, their china made strobes wont last long tho (1-2 years of hard use...)
i like digicolour coz i can buy softboxes of various shapes n sizes that can fit my Bowen Esprits mono blocks. To get a same set of Bowens accesories gonna cost me an arm, a leg n my first born son <_<
Remember this mantra: cheap studio flash accesories = Digicolor :nodyes: :pimpin_ted: :nodyes:

tehtarik, I remember getting the small umbrellas from DigiColor for 50 bucks a piece. ;) There are 3 types I think - a clear one that you can shot thru, a white one and a silver one which was not available when I was buying.

Well, the baloon thingy is fine, although it doesn't work as well as expected.
It's just that initially the lady insisted on selling it for 20 bucks although I told her that my friends got it for 20. She refused until my hero Thalis came over and spoke in a language foreign to me :o that she finally agreed. It didn't take long after that though.
The next incident, a rather serious one, was with the printing of 8x12 that was on offer, but only for the fashion photos. I submitted my CF for printing 6 pcs, when I came back I saw 7. Asked why the extra print, the printer told me that the boss wanted to hang it on his stall to show customers how good the printing is!
I was bloody furious as he had the audacity to steal my photo without asking. I told him where to go, as the copyright is mine and I'll be entering those pics in the fuji competition. He simply can't do that.
He did not argue and gave me the print straight away, even had it laminated for me (oh wow! ). So it was settled, but who knows, he may still have my digital files.... moral of the story for me, don't go and print there if I cannot trust the person.

Matt, sorry to read about your experience printing with them. Purely unethical.
tehtarik, the small umbrellas I have opens to about 2 feet in diameter. Large ones I saw in Digicolor's stand in the photo fair opens to about 3 feet. Remember to check out the stands and umbrella holder. They seem to have different types of holders and it depends on what they have in stock at that time. I have 2 types from them, one with a tripod thread and the other with flash shoe mount.
A word of warning as ted has mentioned - you do get what you pay for. One of the stands jammed not very long after I got it. It is now stuck at a particular height and no amount of tugging, twisting, pulling or pushing can pry it loose.

thanks photonut...any idea how much the stand would cost?

The cheapest stand was RM60 each. No frills, extends to about 6 feet only. If you are going to used it a bit more, go for the next step up (can't recall the price), quality is much better and goes taller.
Word of warning - leave your ATM card and credit card at home. You will go crazy over the wide and diverse accessories sold there. Anything from light table to nick nacks like filter rings and battery packs.

Was around the area during lunch time and decided to drop into Mutiara to grab my lunch and recee DigiColor. Hantu was there by coincidence and we had lunch and a nice chat together.
maxby, there were actually a couple of medium formats (didn't check them out) there but no large formats.
tehtarik, they were out of al-cheapo stands. Maybe they will stock up by tomorrow. Interestingly, they displayed a couple of huge umbrellas, about 6 feet in diameter. What caught my eye were Chinese made ala Lowepro S&F belts. Not very good in quality but will pass off as the original stuff at a glace. The vests were priced at RM70, but I am sure you can bargained for a cheaper price.

Yes, just had a lunch with Photo Nut... And should have read Matt's story on the printing since I've just had a not as bad experience like Matt on digital printing...
I've sent 104 pieces there for digital print since my workmates said it was alright to print there... but, to my surprise, the printing wasn't that good as the one i've done before... I would say the technician's not doing his job well or he's just plain lazy to adjust the pics!! :pissed: :pissed: :pissed: :pissed:

It is located on the first floor of Mutiara Complex and sells all sorts accessories, some parallel imports and 'lookalike' goods. If you are coming from the city on Ipoh Road, go pass HSBC on your left and the left turn to Jalan Kuching/Segambut. Continue on until you see a Chinese school on your left and a rather mechanical looking overhead pedestrian bridge. There will be a white building on your left (Boon Siew S/B and Kah Motors), Mutiara Complex is just after that.

Yeah, i did 'search' thats why i came to this post, haha.
I was roaming Malacca town when i saw a woman taking pictures of her friends using a bag which look like a crumpler. Upon talking to her i realised that it was a 'bagman'. So she told me the name of the shop that she got it from etc etc and i jot it down. So a few days later i made a search for it on the internet and got here. Dynasti Hotel, Senti West Entrance..hmm...I will check it out.
I found a map here: http://www.kl-hotels.com/dynastykl/map.htm
That's how i got here, haha. Sorry guys, for the late realisation of this shop's existence :051:
