Too troublesome for someone to bring it back from the US, though I do have a friend coming back at the end of this month.

Paid RM700 from Keat Camera. I think Eng Tong is the distributor.

Dear friends,

We've just confirmed distributorship for Think Tank in Malaysia. Please look forward for the stocks to arrive in your local retail shops. As for now, we've yet to decide on whether we should sell direct as well.

Recommended Retail Prices will be finalized by next week the latest, so do keep track of this thread.

Many thanks, and looking forward to seeing ThinkTank in Malaysia soon.

Can never be the same! There's only GST of 7% in Singapore whereas there Import Duty and sales Tax in Malaysia on canvas bags which works out to be at least 30%.

ya... but dunno can fit in a big cam and a mid range lens or not...

Apparently, not!

Extract from Thom Hogan's article:

ThinkTank Rotation 360: I really wanted to like this. The origin of the split-pack idea came from Galen's prototype system that was briefly made in the early 90's, then imitated more poorly by the LowePro Orion later in the decade. The disadvantage of Galen's design was that it was difficult for some to rehook the waist bag back to the pack without taking it off your back (I'm not sure I 100% disagree with that--I had no such problem with mine--the difference is that most imitators tried to place the clip-ins centered on the weight carrying area, not slightly forward as Galen did). The Rotation 360 solves that problem well with a quite clever catch-and-release system. But the waist bag itself is a bit small, and the remaining pack area is also small. There's no easy way to get a 70-200mm into either section without compromising the remaining carrying capacity, for instance, so you end up putting an accessory case on the side of the pack (and then strapping something equally heavy, say a water bottle, on the other to balance things). The design is also a bit fussy and overdone. I can understand the rain cover having a zippered pocket, but the tripod carrying strap? Overall it comes close, and I'm sure Galen would have given it a try, but I think that the current iteration misses for most shooters. Bottom line: take a look if you like the idea, but make sure that you can fit what you need into the places you want them to be.

Maybe you should look at another design!

Hey Noordin, ck and the rest,

It's great to hear about awareness of ThinkTankPhoto in Malaysia. Being an avid photographer, we've noticed that it was never brought into M'sia, and thus set about on bringing in this excellent brand into Malaysia for the good of photographers locally.

Anyways, with regards to pricing, we hope to match the current retail price online, thus saving you money on shipment or even traveling down Singapore. We've contacted the major retailers and hope it'll be up in their shelves before Christmas. As for now, we would be able to serve you at the listed retail price (http://www.thinktankphoto.com), as our retail partners might not be too happy with any other arrangements.

Am considering starting a new FAQ sheet on ThinkTankPhoto, but perhaps I'll re-post what they've done in Clubsnap, copyright sehsuan in a new post ;)

Dear ckc,

The stock will be arriving by the end of next week, hopefully, once the customs clear shipment and ThinkTankPhoto US has packed the items. Also, as ThinkTankPhoto USA has just shifted, and also it's Thanksgiving plus Christmas period, they're actually quite tied down over there due to the crazy break-neck rate their orders are going (Singapore sold like hot cakes and they reordered again within 3 weeks! Korea, Japan and other countries are selling well too), holiday season (some staff might be on leave), plus finally shifting of offices is indeed time consuming.

As for now, as mentioned before, prices will be equivalent to online retail prices at http://www.thinktankphoto.com. Some retailers might choose to price it differently though, can't control them. We would prefer transactions to be done via the retailers, as they're specialized photography shops, not us. We're just avid photographers who wants to see this product well distributed in Malaysia, and thus, took the task to do something about it.

But for contingency purposes, you can always pm me directly to arrange to view the items once they're in.

God Bless & Warm Regards,

Leo

Good to know that ThinkTank will be available here soon

I bought the UD50 in BKK. Great bag for business travel with a notebook & SLR, while not looking like a photographer, carrying overstuffed bags.

One thing about ThinkTank bags is that the amount of padding is just enough, without being overly protective. This means the bags have a slimmer profile compared to similar Lowepro or Crumpler bags. They are also very light

Airport antidote mentioned in main website = USD199 (~RM700)

Been using thiktank for the past year or so. Replaced almost all my bags with them.
Currently use the urban disguise 60, tt modulus belt setup & the speed demon. No regrets. I purchased them all in the US or in Bangkok.

As long as the malaysian distributor can match the US RRP, then it's a good buy :)
One comment above is right, the packing is just right. not too padded like crumplers.

Hey Leonhart,

Thanks for dropping by ;) As mentioned, as much as we would like to, we've to stick to the MSRP for now, as we need to protect retailers that take up Think Tank Photo, being a distributor ourselves. We're certain the prices will be negotiable with your favorite local retailers once the items are in their shops, thus the need to bug them for it ::)

Our next shipment of Think Tank Photo will be arriving soon. As stocks are limited, do contact your local camera shop to get their supplies from us. Coming up soon are our skin series, similar to our modular series, but much lesser padding, making it very convenient to store while not at use, increasing mobility, while saving space.

chickenriceboy...any chance you'll be bringing in the Newswear items as well in the near future?? else I've to get them in SG which will then be very2 pricey:w (& the ZorbIT too yaa :D )

Hi Drebarbelon,

We won't be doing Newswear for the moment as we believe Think Tank Photo's Skin series is much more versatile and gives us much more modularity compared to NW. Also, it's much more affordable ::)

Zorb-it's stocks aren't in yet due to our current rate of busyness. Will keep you informed.

Cheers! ::)

Sorry, there is indeed never an AI v2.0. >:) Perhaps you read wrongly. You can write in to TTP USA for further enquiries.

Btw, I can't seem to edit the previous post.

Please do find the first ever Think Tank Photo ad worldwide. It can be found in this month's issue of 'Click!' magazine, at issue 28, together with an in-depth review on the Urban Disguise 50 >:)>:) It's the first, but it'll not be our last.

http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3124/3218517732_6c8e472b9c.jpg

p/s: Unlike many other distribution houses, we're considered the newest & smallest around. But unlike certain local M'sian bag distributors that carries less than 20% of the catalogue, we do carry more than 98.5% of the catalogue, which speaks depths on our support to the brand.

Certain items do run out as it's hard to predict market trends, and yes, we would have to make our orders 6 months in advance. TK Foto (Singapore), Wiwat Trading (Thailand), Lacklands (NZ) and the various other TTP distys has also mentioned that sometimes, certain things do run out, as demand sometimes exceeds supply.

Do kindly support us. We promise do our best, and yes, with very close prices to across the border, buying locally does help our currency from depreciating.

Cheers! ::)

Yeah... 98.5% of the catalogue but only less than 50% of those items are in stock at any one time in Malaysia. :P

Lesson of the story, if you want to buy TTP stuff in KL, just buy whatever that is in-stock even if you are not looking for that specific model. :)) :)) :))

I have a streetwalker harddrive I don't mind parting. Bought it for my penang trip only to fin out can't fit my 17inch laptop. So used once. make me an offer if you're interested or if you're in JB and just want to see the bag, that's cool too (just pay my teh tarik :)

BTW, mine comes with three tripod straps instead of two (long story). Bought the bag close to RM700.
