  • Jenis Vertical Grip for D70s

I'm planning to to buy this vertical grip for my D70s,

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1

Anyone has any experience with this brand?
And most important, is the price ok?

Bought a used one from SG and after using it twice sold it. I believe it's selling for about S$120 new.

Didn't quite like the feel of it, quite plasticky. However, it works fine. Best of all with your D70s can modify to do vertical half-press.

How to modify? Hardware? Will it void the warranty?
Any other model that can do half-press without modification?

But then I've asked my friend who is the marketing executive of Nikon Malaysia about these 3rd party battery grip. He said any 3rd party stuffs that touches the internal circuit of the camera are not recommended. It is not gurranteed tht it is safe. I recall a thread last year showing a 3rd party battery grip exploded, tht freaked me out from buying it.

I don't have the grip, but I believe it is just some straightforward circuits that redirect the batterys' terminals only. Other word, if you dare to use a third party battery, you should have faith in it as well. The shutter control is done thru infrared control.

Re: Jenis Vertical Grip for D70s

The grip seems to use the optical remote for controling the shutter, i.e. you only can trigger the shutter door but can't do focus lock with half press. D70s come with the option for remote focus lock and shutter trigger via cable. Anyone seen a vertical grip with that kind of capability, with remote cable and not optical cable.
