  • Both cabin bag and camera bag allowed in airplane?

I am aware of the 1 cabin bag system in aircraft. It must be of certain size and weight.

What I would like to know is if we carry a camera bag, perhaps not those huge camera bag, say a bag that can put in a K100D, 18-55, DA14, T28-75, FA50, 50-200 and FA80-320 and a 360FTZ. Is this kind of bag allowed to go together with a cabin bag and allowed through checkpoint?

    Thanks.

I traveled to Ho Chi Minh with a laptop bag + a Nova 3 (with K100Ds, kit lens, 70-300, SP90). No problems during check-in and boarding though.

It all depends on which airport. In Heathrow, Stansted & Gatwick, even a lady's handbag is termed one bag. I think KLIA has not strictly enforced the one cabin bag rule yet. It will very soon.

Flying out of London (all airports) there's a very strict 1-bag policy. But after the security check (where they insist on this) passengers can take 2 bags into the cabin!

But elsewhere, even in USA the restriction is quite lax. Out of KL, for sure you can carry 2 bags into the cabin provided they're airline cabin size.

i think KLIA allow you to bring more than 1 hand carry into the cabin..last year from KL to incheon, i carried 3 and no problem..that day i carried one big travel bagpack on the back..one camera bag and one electric guitar..and from incheon to KL i need a permission to bring the guitar..but there no problem..i don't know others country but KL is no problem..they didn't count laptop or camera as a one hand carry..

Yeah...UK is very strict. Even a shopping paper bag is considered as one bag, so you cannot bring two. They will ask you to either put them into ONE, or leave the bag besides the garbage bin there...

I usually travel with a shoulder dSLR bag with one extra lens and AF360 flash. Never had any problem within Asia, as long as the other normal cabin bag is of acceptable size.
UK is infamous for strictly enforcing a stricter-than-IATA policy for cabin bags. You won't get any exceptions there.

u r not carrying any plastic bomb in the battery chamber,
u r not bringing a detonator in the form of camera remote,
u r not bringing any liquid bomb in the lenses,
u r not bringing any guns in the form of flash-gun,
u r not hiding any 'strangle-wire' underneath the camera strap,
u r not hiding any 'dart-launcher' in the tripod,

then i think it is ok to bring camera on board...

Re: Both cabin bag and camera bag allowed in airplane?

UK is very strict. One bag means ONE bag. As mentioned, ladies hand bag or plastic shopping bag or laptop bag or camera equipment contained in a case are each considered as one bag. So it is not the size of the individual bags but the overiding rule of quantity 1.

They are alright if you can put all your loose "bag" into one bag at security screening. The one final bag must not be more than 45 cu" or 22"x14"x9" and not weight more than 5kg or 11 lb (this does vary).

Other airports are rather lax but if they will come down hard on you if if you push it in terms of size and number of bags.

The weight limitation is an airline rule.

if you are going to US, then a camera/laptop bag can be taken on top of a cabin size luggage.

Sorry. I should be more specific. I am going to Perth. The journey is KL-> S'pore Changi -> Perth via TigerAirways.

In July I will go again to Perth but then I should either be going via MAS direct KL->Perth or SIA via KL->Spore->perth.
