  • How to check the Sony Alpha Shutter count?

    Guys,

Anyone knows how to check the shutter count on a Sony Alpha DSLR?
    Specifically for Alpha 700?
    I would appreciate your inputs.
    Thanks.....

i dunno how to check from the camera other than keeping tab on the filename. key learning is - do not reset the filename. one way you can trace back is by looking at your photos in the computer since the day you got the camera. my first photo out of the box was 0001 so its easy. my friends camera out of the box started off with 02811.

nikons have their shutter counts in their .exif data.

but why worry about about a700's shutter life? Unless you're taking 4.9999fps video with it? heheh

TS said he reset the naming system a few times. so it's nt accurate anymore.

How about checking the exif data on a sample picture? it should have it there.

On the sidenote, how long does the A200 shutter typically last>?

A700's shutter is rated for 100,000 by sony. They could be understating it, hopefully.

The cameras with the 1/125-160s flash sync speeds should have the older shutter. The KM5D/7D probably has a similiar shutter too (though the mirror mechanisms have
                        been refined over time).

But simedarby's numbers sound about average.

uh oh... i spoke too soon...

my a100 just locked up several times... "camera error code=0x5? and 0x6? something...

one of the occasions sounded like the SSS mechanism locking up during a long exposure. And the 18 month warranty just expired.

Someone told me that SSS should be turned off while on tripod?
