  • Problems with purchasing Lightroom 5

I've been having tremendous problems trying to upgrade to Lightroom 5, and was wondering if anyone else has faced the same problem.

First of all, I called the the Malaysian toll-free customer service number, and was wrongly directed to their employee-only help desk.

I called again, and then the call goes to the Adobe corporate HQ in India, which then gave me a non-existent number to call, and promptly hung up.

I then called three "Gold" resellers, two of which said that they don't sell the upgrades to individual users, and the third said that I have to write an email as they do not take phone inquiries.

I was told by one re-seller to call the Singapore toll-free number, and after navigating their labyrinthine menu, no-one picked up the phone for 10 minutes.

I then tried purchasing the upgrade from the Adobe website directly, but a message comes up that they do not take credit cards from Malaysia. (Seriously? What kind of e-commerce solution is that?!)

Then I tried the "wireless transfer" option, but this failed too, as it said that the bank account details were incorrect. Yet, it hadn't asked for the bank details yet, as on the first page, it said that the bank account details are to be provided after the order is confirmed. And the order could not be confirmed as the bank account details had not been provided!!

Can anyone share how they manage to upgrade to Lightroom 5? Maybe I should just purchase using a fictitious US address? This means that I will not be able to buy the cheaper upgrade option...

It seems it is not your day, but in regard to the above I can inform you I purchase from Adobe directly with a Malaysia issued credit card and I have little doubt that other members here have done the same. My suggestion, contact their service centre by email.

Thaks pointblank. Did you purchase an upgrade, or the full version? Was it a creative cloud licence or stand-alone licence?

I have a sneaking suspicion that that are trying to migrate all users to creative cloud...

Obviously Adobe would love to have their customers as much as possible on the cloud platform ( I am indeed a CC customer ) but if they still offer other products they should fully support the customer in making their purchase. Lightroom 5 is very recent software and if Adobe wants to give their interested customers a hard time purchasing it they might eventually feel the punch in the long run.

Thanks very much for taking time to post your responses. I think I might have to cave in and go for their subscription model if this becomes too difficult...

Just an update on this. Surprise surprise, when I clicked to purchase the CC version the transaction went through without a hitch. Conspiracy theories abound!

Lol, but now you do have the latest and the greatest for (so I hope) a very good price. I find Photoshop CC really good compared to previous versions, coming from CS4.
Enjoy the new tool, I hope your CPU can handle it as it surely bites in to your memory.

This is very needable topic many users face problem that issue's!
HighLow Review: Before you get started on High Low, you need to understand what it offers and how it works. You need to understand all this before you make that initial deposit. Binary options brokers themselves will not let you in on much about them until you make that deposit.
