      Apply an equalizer filter, and lower the output from 500Hz down. Try 200Hz for starters...that's where the 'booming' usually starts.

      Before that, you may want to take the grille off your loudspeakers and tighten the screws of the bass unit first to ensure the 'enhanced' bass is not due to loose screws causing vibrations between the bass unit and the wood.

        High pass filter, take everything out below 80Hz.
        Then a low shelf at around 150-180Hz, depending on how much its needed.
        Add speech clarity with a bell EQ at around 5-8KHz. Be careful as is easy to go over the top with EQ and not notice.
