1) Please tell us a little about yourself.
i'm just a teenager from neighbor country who got an opportunity to feel the taste of photography, and now Iím so fall in love with it.
You can view my online galleries here:
2) What is your photography history?
I thank to Almighty God for the opportunity to be raised in a family who support me in photography, so Iím used to take a picture since I was a boy, but still, it just point and shoot. I took it seriously when my sister in the early 2000 got her first SLR as a gift from our parents, Iíd try to learn what is exposure, composition, angle and moment from her guidance.
F55 + AF Nikkor 28-80 + Lucky 100
Moved to Malaysia in 2006 forced me to make a hard decision, leave it or stay on track but start from zero because I donít have camera to be used at that time. Alhamdulillah, after walking on the rough road, I can buy my own camera, Nikon D70s. I realized eventhough I had a great camera, feels like I didnít make any improvement, at the moment Iím still thinking that my photos from my sisterís SLR are so much better rather than my DSLR.
Thanks again to God, I can learn the art of photography from my College Senior; Andrian Johnson, Lazuardi Rizki, Rusdi Talib Sanad and Andre Drajat G (Iím still admire their work in Fotografer.net)..but still, my work isnít good enough.
Infrared Photography? This is a something that Iím very love but also something that I really hate (made me become so addicted). It started in the mid 2006 (before I came here), I saw a picture with a very very beautiful gorgeous tone, itís neither black and white nor normal colour in FN (and the filter for that photo only state = ďHarlimĒ, harlim??? Brand??hahaha). Honestly, I donít know who he is until early 2007.
In August 2007, I tried to break the line, decide to convert my camera. The problem is, who will I ask to do this? student budget and lived in Malaysia(at that time I only know Mr.Harlim and Mr.Dibyo, both are in Indonesia) were a perfect combination for the reason why I should do this by my own.
Nope, it ended with a smoke from the capacitor and the main board, sure Iíll not forgot that moment. Thus, after send it to repair shop, I send it to Mr.Dibyo. 6 month after that, I tried to reconvert again, and it success(based on the guidance of the true step from Mr.Ragil, lifepixel step isnít good enough). Mamantaro(Bang Din) was the person who encourage me to make this as business.
3) Can you describe your photography style?
For me, a photo must have a story to be told, and in my point of view, itís easier for me to make a story with a human inside it (I always tried to combining human with the other element in the composition, so itíll have a strong mood and feeling). Therefore, it becomes my special approach.
Infrared Photography is only helping me to achieve what Iím intend to do (Point Interest of a photo are stronger/more contrast in infrared).
4) Any advise for PhotoMalaysia members?
Never underestimate others work and never stop to learn.
