Hey Guys. I am currently owning 7D,60D and 550D. I want to buy a microphone and Video light. But i am not sure which / what brand to purchase. I know RODE microphones are the best but my budget does not allow me to purchase it.
Please help me with which microphone and lightings are good.
Is this videolight good ?
Yongnuo 64 LED Video light..
My budget for both items above
Microphone : RM100-300
Lightings : RM100-200
Shawn, the Chinese made LED lights are a real bargain. I couldn't vouch whether it will last very long but I bought a few from Digicolor and honestly they perform as well as Lite Panels from US costing 7 times more.. So yeah, I think you'll be ok with the lights.
As for audio I would actually recommend a real good mic. Bear in mind that audio is half of the package when you shoot video. When you spend so much on the camera, audio would at least require equal attention don't you think?
I would recommend at least the Zoom H1 at around 450.. If you can't stretch the budget, I suppose your option is to save up or just get the el cheap brand but I think you'll be quite disappointed.

I think directphoto.com.my got stock
I think there is too much hissing noise coming from my camera built in audio recorder even with a good mic attached to it.. Do you have any suggestion to improve the sound quality further? Have you try Magic Lantern http://magiclantern.wikia.com/wiki/M..._Firmware_Wiki
I am going to venture into this the next free time I get..
I use Zoom H1 and found that this is the best entry level, condenser, stereo field audio recorder. I bought it @ CKMusic http://www.ckmusic.com.my/webshaper/...roductItem=454
Then coupled with Audio-Technica ATR-3350 clip mic, it perform great in interview type of situation.
I have never used magic latern. I contemplated using it and then came the firmware upgrade..
As for the audio.. there is nothing much you can do with it. You can try lowering the level down on camera to reduce it but the reality is the audio circuitry on-board the camera is of pretty low quality. Even if you use good quality external mic, you will improve it but the limit is still the audio recording capability of the camera itself. That is why its best to use external recorder.
anyone got links of where they are selling Zoom H1 ?? below RM 400 one.. i will try to survey..possible online la... thx
Read the spec... The zoom h2 has dual xy mic... It said better than xy mic. Anyone can share the different?
can i know where i can get the cheaper H1 in KL area?
Alor Setar i found this MIC brand Vidmike. Ada sapa pernah pakai tak?
The price is around RM170

I have Zoom H1, rode video mic, rode stereo mic and Sennheiser G2. I use Rode stereo for most of the occations. the Zoom H1 and Sennheiser is used to record the speeches. The Rode Stereo mic is around RM600. See the below video, it was captured by Rode stereo mic.
Since your budget is quite low, I recommend you getting the Audio-Technica Pro-24CM mic. It's cheap and the sound quality is not bad. It's mainly great for documentary style of shooting such as a handheld mic or you have another boom operator operating it. However, this mic lacks some features compared to zoom, tascam or the rode.
