Hello there,
I would like to ask, as if I buy a hood for my 18-55mm, is there any differences in the picture quality? Should I buy it or not? Any suggestion?
Thank you,
ShafiqHanafi

A hood prevents flare... and can offer protection for your lens.. I have mine on all the time if anything for protection purpose because I don't like using a filter... Its good practice... It definitely doesn't make pictures any worse....
Have you seen the 18-55 hood yet? Compare to 24-70 2.8 hood. That will block flares. Or you can consider a 3rd party rubber hood that can extand quite big
Photography is a never ending journey..
Anything that aids photography is worth having. That's why most manufacturers supply them with their lens.
You spend thousands onthe lens then you should get the shade for a couple of hundreds. Remember the phrase the strength of a chain is in its weakest link! This is true for any system.
Hood is very useful for outdoor shooting.
Indoor with flash will be a disaster. Anyhow, no harm getting one as it's not that expensive.
3rd party 18-55 hood cost about MYR 30-40+ only.
I can't even remember how many times a hood has saved my lens from knocking into something and bruising them....so yes you should definitely get them to improve pictures you take outdoors and have the added benefit of protection for your lens.

I always do have my hood on, even my kit lens![]()
I do personally think that hood is very useful, as what all bro's mention in here, during outdoor shoot, especially in a sunny day.. It does help blocks sun flareand another piece of advice, maybe u can try a filter to go with that?

But then again, I quite not understand why shooting with hood on lens indoor with flash is a no go option?
