Just got myself a Ricoh GRD IV for the Nepal photosafari trip

    Ricoh GRD4-002.jpg

This coming photosafari to Nepal on 14th to 27th March is a trekking trip up the Himalayan Range to Manang. There is a need to travel light as any extra weight around the neck would weigh a ton after a couple of days of trekking....it just gets heavier by the hour. We will be on the trek for about 10 days and weight is a very important consideration.

I was looking around for a lightweight and capable camera that can shoot in raw and immediately the Ricoh GRD IV came to my mind. I have tested the previous model the Ricoh GRD III and was very impressed with the results. I heard that this new model is an upgrade on the previous model in terms of ISO capabilities and other features. Well I will let you all know how it performs after I come back from the trip.

This camera has a cult following in Taiwan and Japan. On the surface, it shares the same design as the GRDIII, II and I but under the boot is an engine change, VR capability and a new processor.

I think design wise it may be a bit outdated when compared with the latest offerings.
