The Olympus OM-D "Special Offer"

I'm sure most fans of the OM-D know about the special offer being given by Olympus Malaysia.

RM3599 for the body only, black only. RM4499 black or silver with 12-50mm lens.

I did some research and found a much better alternative, can save a few hundred RM over at B&H Video only US$999 -- this isn't a "special offer" price, it's the permanent price available anytime.

Even including UPS express shipping, the price is only USD1056 or RM3,223. The product is launched on April 16, with that shipping option you'll get it by 20th or 21st.

Just sharing this with everyone, to give you options.

Is olympus warranty international?
I still feel that the street price should be lower.
This little cam almost have the same price as d7k.

my guess if you order now at b&h...you probably get it 2months later.

loads of people already pre-ordered...even on amazon, all combinations continue to be top 10 sales. oly will need to spread the consignments around...so everyone will have a few to start...of course big sellers like b&h will have more...still have to wait your turn lah...

if you want it quick...order directly at oly malaysia...oly companies will get 1st priority...plus my guess not many people will pre-order in malaysia...if you want it cheap...order at b&h in nov-dec during xmas sales...

no...this cam is more expensive than d7k by the pound.

Reality is, "Warranty" is only for 1 year. What can go wrong in 1 year? The worse and costliest maybe shutter. That can set back a couple of thousands. So 'warranty' is justified. But how often does this happen in the 1st year? Almost nil!!

So if the savings is more than RM1K then it makes sense to but from B&H or Amazon or such well established places.

so why buy from usa when local street price is 3900-4100?

There are a few pre-owned units now in FTZ. It's almost a year old and many are already moving to other newer models but sadly, Oly have not even announce any replacement for it.

Sigh that's why I am still contemplating if I should get an OM-D now or should I wait? I only how it has built-in EVF.

Not much changes. The new PEN shares the same Sensor hence ISO and MP is the same. They put in a new shutter hence 1/8000s capabilities.

E-m5 is weather sealed.
