Testing Nikon 28mm f/1.4

Went to Putrajaya this morning to recce the location for CB-9. It also gave me an opportunity to test my new 'old' Nikon 28mm f/1.4. I used it on my D4.

For an old lens, he colours are very nice.

As a landscape lens it's excellent.

It handles bright sunlight quite well.

Depth of field is great even for indoors. The foreground subjects and the background subjects are reasonably sharp.

Close-up is excellent. The details are very good.

The size is quite small when compared to present lens of similar performance. It's not obtrusive when mounted on the camera. Looks like it will be great for Street Shoot and I'll be using this more often when I get my D800E.

Good idea. I'll send it for calibration. The lens did sound as if something is loose inside.

I think the contrast is a bit lower than the new lenses but somehow I like the slightly muted colors. Old Nikkors are not optimised for digital cameras.

I bought thus as a collection item. I'm not too concerned that it is not perfect. I'll send it to Vim Son to check and recalibrate.
