I wish I can tell you how to improve your future shots.

#1 - check the light direction. by moving more to the left, you may avoid harsh highlights since the camera can meter the bright area better. and please recompose.
#2 & 3 - need to work subject isolation from the BG. try to avoid the "line" crossing the head.
