Event talk show shooting equipment??

Hi guy, i have an event this coming weekend, is a talk show and the indoor lighting is quite poor abit,
the hall can be fit around 350ppl...so basically i need to shoot the audience and the presenter...
currently i having 50d + 24-70 2.8L, 50mm 1.8 and 580 ex2 speedlite... i might borrow my friend 5dmark2 + 16-35 or 70-200...

which 1 is recommended to shoot in the event?? mainly focus speaker cause need to print out next time.....

what is the tactic and skill need to be focus like aperture,iso, lighting and etc.....

any sifu can give some help?

RULE NUMBER 1 : You're NOT to be the centre of attention, henceforth

a) no flash photography
b) use longer lens 70-200
c) use 70-300 if possible to get a tighter portraits of the speakers
d) wear dark clothing
e) to look a wee bit "more professional", wear jacket if a suit is out of the question
f) I will shoot RAW and correct the WB later in post (Lightroom™ for batch processing is a God send yo!), feel free to get the correct WB and shoots in jpeg, your choice really
g) If need to get close, do so in the first 5 ~ 10 minutes of the talk, then get the heck out of the way superqwik (read Rule Number 1)

RULE NUMBER 2 : unsharp photos are as good as a chocolate teapot, therefore...

h) practice your low light slow speed handholding technique
i) use as high ISO setting as possible without the file starts to "break up" (very the important during post work yo!)
j) use lens with a big aperture ie: f2.8 and above
k) use monopod if possible, leave your tripod behind

and last but not least, just relax, if you fail in this assignment chalk it up as a learning experience, so dontch la put undue pressure to yourself

this is private event, so i allow to walk around and can use flash if i need it...
i was thinking to use 70-200mm...but have to borrow from friend, otherwise stick with my own lens and equipment only...

low light slow speed should need tripod right?? if not sure shake till blur..~~

any tips and setting need to be caution also??

You know the "don't use a shutter speed lower than.....at absolute minimum 1/focal length" - general rule of course as their are some photogs.out there that have navy seal sniper skills and can go well under the rule, however if your going to be using the speedlites most of the night then that should help you get a bit lower. I assume you have practiced the scenario a little first yeah?.....to see what type of results you can expect.

You know the "don't use a shutter speed lower than.....at absolute minimum 1/focal length" - general rule of course as their are some photogs.out there that have navy seal sniper skills and can go well under the rule, however if your going to be using the speedlites most of the night then that should help you get a bit lower. I assume you have practiced the scenario a little first yeah?.....to see what type of results you can expect.
