Just wondering.. how did you manage to get soooo close to the moth?? Did you take the shot hand held or with support (tripod or monopod)

I believe with a 60mm the lense body is *very* near to the subject at 1:1...

How did you do it???

I was having a hard time getting close to a bumble bee that is frantically flying around with my Micro-Nikkor 105mm.

I had to take the bumble bee pictures hand held... Good thing that It was early morning and the sky was very clear... so I can ramp my shutter speed to above 1/250... But my shots of the bumble bee is very blah!

But I managed to get some ~ok-laaa~ shots of a tiny grasshopper that is less hyper.. more like couldn't care less...

teleconverter in used ? if not, wow ! is hard to get this kind of shoot too, i did try 60mm, not really far, same curious like zainisma

it is kind of hard to get too close to the moth, especially it is behind a fence on the other side of a taman I am shooting at...but what I do is just get closer and closer inch by inch...and hold my breath when shooting to minimize movement.

I prefer 60micro to 105micro cos I can shoot at lower speed for the 60micro but not the 105micro.

I felt 60mm micro is wee bit too short for nervous critters like butterfly and the like, even the 105mm micro only just about do it. I kept the 200mm micros for specifically this reason. Though I must say the 60 is indeed extremely sharp for use as a normal lens.

the Nikkor 200mm micro is a very specific lens...extremely good for macro. However, at the price of RM4.5k for the AFD version...I don't think I can afford that luxury...as I don't shoot macro for living...and doesn't really use the 200mm focal length much.

I use the 60micro as a multi-purpose lens. A normal lens for portrait and anything...as well as close-up/macro.

One thing to note...on digital with 1.5x crop factor, you can actually go 1:1.5 with this macro lens. In other word, it gives you extra distance to your subject if you are just shooting 1:1 or smaller...
