    Carl Zeiss Jena Sonnar 180mm f2.8 on a D80

Taken straight out of the camera, and just minor tweaks on levels and cropping. I love this lens ever since I got my Pentacon 6 TL some time ago. Loved the bokeh it creates, and how shallow the depth of field is. I am seeing bokeh more and more now. Left to right : Hanging in there, I'm to sexy for my car & I'm seeing bokeh.

Sure mate,... will look out for the lens. I will see if my mate who is a big P6 collector has it. I usually shoot with the 2 lenses that I have on my P6.

Some how when the CJZ Biometar 80mm f2.8 has a slight glow around the subject when there is a greater amount of contrast, like the picture below. It feels like the lens is a little fogged or something, hence causing a soft focus feel. I check the lens, but it has no sign of fogging or fungus.

Oh yes,... I would like to add one thing. Maybe because the Nikon has a shorter lens registration, both the lenses for the Pentacon 6 that I have is not able to achieve infinity focus. So that is why I am not able to post anything up with the focus distance of more than 42m away.

I have a feeling my nikkor lenses will be left in the dry box for awhile now. All because these 2 Carl Zeiss Jena lenses will keep me busy for now. It feels like having a digital medium format camera, but who am I kidding? But then again what the heck,... who cares about it being a 35mm DSLR now? It still takes good photos with these lenses.

Thanks mates These lenses are rather cool. I've always loved them, maybe that is why I love my Pentacon 6 TL. Now I have an adaptor for the Carl Zeiss Lenses to be mounted to my Nikon bodies, what I am afraid is leaving my P6 MF body in the dry box more, not forgetting my Nikkor lenses. I just can't wait to get home to KL so that I can try it on my D200 cam. Poison indeed.

which CZJ 180/2.8 you own? the older version ( with Sonnar word on, chrome appeture ring and chrome focus indicator) or the later version, ( with MC word on and all black )?

    * try search on ebay for pentacon to nikon adaptor, then you will able to do infinity focus.

which brand have you tried that allows focus to infinity?

reviews from other forums and also test from my mates found that they are still yet to focus to infinity on those ebay adapters.

I am not too sure. This is my only first of such adapters I have used. Please note that this is a medium format lens mounted onto the Nikon DSLR. Which ones has your mates have tested? I have a few different lenses used on my Nikon though, all prime. Carl Zeiss with ZF mount, and also the Voigtlander SLII with Nikon F-mount. All has infinity focus, maybe because they are all made for the Nikon bodies.

i use the original one ( P6 to M42 ) then using K to M42 to use it on my camera, i have 80, 180 and 300. all able to focus into infinity.

    * buy those direct P6 to Nikon converter, ( not p6 to m42 to f type ) should able you to focus to infinity. enjoy your toys
