"It has come to our attention that some Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries EN-EL3 for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras may on rare occasions overheat causing the camera to deformed or in the worst case, posing a fire hazard

The Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL3 is a lithium-ion battery for use with Nikon D100, D70, D70S, and D50 digital-SLR cameras. Among these 4 models, it is supplied with purchase of the D100, D70, and D50. In the interest of our customers' safety, we have, as mentioned earlier, decided to implement a voluntary recall and replacement program.

Customers with recalled batteries should request a replacement battery as indicated below.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this issue may cause you."

Hold your horses!

Those silly people put up the notice on the web site and they don't even have the stock to replace the batteries yet.

Went there this morning and was told to come back this Friday, 11th Nov. They said the should have it by then. But knowing them i suggest you call them first before going. Otherwise it wasting petrol.

You all know their service level.

next TT session, all nikon users sit on the opposite side of the table ya? moderators have bomb squad numbers handy just in case. others, prepare to inform patrons on a possible evacuation should an explosion take place. meanwhile, i will speak to the media when they arrive... will assure them that it's not a terrorist attack.

I was just thinking along the same lines. Perhaps since they will not have the EN-EL3 and replace with the newer EN-EL3a.

Most of the time, I'm too engrossed shooting. The last time I remembered I got over 1600 shots at one go during the Ms Fujifilm Photogenic and the battery still showed full bar.

Better call first la, if not wasting ur petrol...unless they replace on the same time with EN-EL3a.

Mine is 46AU...but so far my battery ok,..but need to change jugak la once they got stock for replacement.

mine came up as well..
but frankly, the only thing thats not misbehaving on my cam is the battery. works a treat.. how ironic is that?

its never heated up or felt overly warm on prolong use so far.

so, now once this goes publec and its all blown out of proprotion, i should be able to walk into any bank, point my cam at them threaten to shoot if they do not give in to my demands.
strapping a few on a chest harness would add to the effect too.
gives "shoot" a whole new meaning.
