Matang Outing - The Pics (56K/GPRS Unfriendly)

For me it was a Bumper Day for Brahminy Kites as we found a spot at Kuala Sepetang where we could shoot really up close while they were feeding.

Unfortunately, it was a very gloomy afternoon and lighting did not permit fast enough focusing or shutter speeds to capture the decisive moment when the made contact with water. Opportunities were abundant but gear was not up to it.

It is a fairly common raptor even in surburban areas but it is still a thrill to catch so close up. Such a majestic & regal bird.

Yeah lah. Wildlife grab shots actually. Big group outing always like that (15+ pax). Birding requires a bit more solitude & concentration. Moreover, there were hoards of tourists walking all over da place when I was shooting. Never mind, better than no birds.

The BK was taken at the end of the day (pressure to hit the road - everybody else left except my car). Fishermen there said must go early like 0730hrs so next time...............

Different fields altogether. Looked like you made the best use of the gear on hand. My WA shots of the Charcoal Kiln only so-so.

First : The sampan started to swing from side to side.. everyone started to squad down

Second : Take notes on the edge of the sampan... the water is not far from rushing into the sampan.

Third... Finaly the sampan does not swing that much already.
