Arts and Earth festival/exhibition

I have a few pieces of work put up for the exhibition, to raise some funds for the Global Environment Centre. They are an environment NGO.

Launch date is 18th August, which is this Friday but it's by invitation only. I would love to invite everyone here but I was only given 10 invites and have run out after giving them to close friends and family.

If anyone of you would like to come for the launch do send me a private message, I'll see if I can squeeze out a few more invites from the organizers.

In conjunction with this year's World Environment Day, Global Environment Centre in partnership with KL Performing Arts Centre will be launching a new way of looking into environment issues - through Art ! Yes, individual artists will be able to express their ideas and thoughts on the environment via the power of imagery.

This is an annual month-long art festival, celebrating the many mediums of art and its power to engage the individual and communities. The festival will also be used as a platform to support educational workshops, special screenings, talks and briefings. The festival will generate environmental awareness among the people of Kuala Lumpur and its visitors.

Environmental degradation has been a key issue in Malaysia. The issues are complex and we need to ensure that all of us, from individuals to corporations, do our bit for the environment. We recognise that many, from established environmental NGOs to committed individuals, have been contributing to educate and reach the people in Malaysia on environmental conservation and the need for embracing the principles of sustainability.Therefore, we need to continue doing this, but in a new way.

New Spokespersons!
It is time to nurture new ones to help communicate environmental messages. Hence, the idea of the art festival was born. To educate artists and use their power of communication to share the conservation message to the public.

Unconventional
Unlike conventional art fests, Arts & Earth showcases the vibrancy and energy of Malaysian artists through their performance art, photographs, paintings, short films, illustrations, graffiti, installation art, and music.

Raise Awareness & Funds
The festival will help raise awareness on the various issues on the environment and to raise funds to help support individuals and communities to be involved in environmental conservation.

Partnership Effort
It is a collaborative voluntary effort involving committed individuals, NGOs, the private sector, and the art and entertainment community.

The exhibition is now being split into the satelite galleries.

Tonight will be the opening at XOAS in PJ, and tomorrow Thursday will be the opening at the Attic, Bangsar.


My art pieces are currently being moved from KLpac to Elle Six in Damansara Heights. The opening is Friday night.
