EOS 450D or Alpha 300?

Dear viewers,
Before this, I've been comparing between the EOS 400D and Alpha 200. But now, with a lot of comments and replies, I'm convinced that now we are entering the age where DSLRs are live view. Although I also think that using the viewfinder is better, but, live view can sometimes be handy in some situations.

Ok. Both EOS 450D & Alpha 300 have live view. Prices differ a lot between them:
EOS 450D + IS Kit Lens = RM2899
Alpha 300 + Kit Lens = RM2099
Alpha 300 + Kit Lens + 70mm-300mm Tele-Lens = RM2499

The 450D's kit lens has IS while the Alpha has the IS in-built to it's body. Alpha has a tilt-able LCD but the 450D has a large 3' LCD. For quality, I've tested both of them, the 450D has more natural colours but the Alpha has a more vivid colour. More accessories for the 450D compare to the Alpha. So what do you think??? Which one would you choose if you have to pick between them? Or if there's a better one, do support it.

Aside from Price. You have found 450D has more natural colours and Alpha has a more vivid colour.

So, its your call. There is nothing where which one is better instead which one is suit your taste.

Bro... setting everything else aside... goto the shops and personally try holding and snapping some pics with the two. This personal experience can make the biggest difference ever . It did for me at least!

I've already tried both of the cameras. Although not side-by-side. It's just that the price and branding is making me dizzy to choose which. It's either to stay loyal with Canon or go to Sony. Both of the qualities are acceptable to my needs.
Anyway, just curious, what gear are you using now? Also, Thanks to all.

Go for Sony, the upcoming threat to both Canon and Nikon. There are many cheaper 3rd party lense for Canon but unfortunately most of them are without IS. Not with Sony!

Go for Sony sony!

Another thing...if you think of Canon, their 2nd hand market is very good..especially to L lens...

As a newbie with a small budget, I did plenty of literature search before closing it onto Canon 450D and Sony A300. I had the similar issue of selecting between this two but the Canon got me hooked when I did the touch and use test. For me Sony felt too plastic and I liked the 450D better. Also I had a few friends who were using Canon and none I knew used Sony... this also made a big difference for me. Then when I finally went to buy the 450D... like a Hindi movie, there the sales lady showed me the Canon 40D and well I ended up busting my budget and buying the 40D instead. The feel of 40D made the biggest difference and I am happy now... I am more comfortable shooting long hours with the 40D.

My sheer advice is don't just let your mind do all the work... your heart knows better.

You've done research, asked here and there.... decided on 450D and ended up with 40D.....

Let me just wake you up and tell you that you've been tricked by a slick sale lady.... I strongly believe she is not bad looking either....

Anyway, you are very happy with your purchase and that is a sign of great salemanship......

Now, go through the manual and start shooting and post them here and show your stuff.....

We seem bit out topic but haha it have to agreed with masculine where target 400D but than end up busted wallet by getting 40K, skip or not skip a level doesn't matter. End of the day still depend on skill

I admire your logic bro masculine... how I wish the sales lady was Bree... would have got something else

No la, no sales trick, 40D was a dream for I had cukup cukup $$$ for it.... but thought the 450D was a better choice as I wud have some cash left. The feel bro, the feel.... 40D had it and my mind stopped thinkin after that... u know like falling in love.

If brand is not important to u, then get Pentax K20D, it's image quality is the best, it's a poor man's S5pro, uncle noordin got one & very proud of it.

jester was from Canon to Pentax, now he never turn back, go ask him why.

I used my kit lens ... Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS.
