Honestly almost no surprise 'cept for the extended ISO. The surprise, imho, would be in the way it handles noises at H2. It must at least be comparable to the ability of its competitor or even better. Think it MUST be better or else why the 'huge' megapixel?

I think I'll just stick to my trusted 40D for now while I collect good lenses.

Don't know about you, Mr. KK, I was expecting a Canon "D300" for the 50D if ever it came out so soon. Obviously, someone in Canon doesn't think the same way as I did.

15MP vs 12.3MP; possibly RM4.5k vs RM5.3k... more megapixels (50D) vs weather-seal plus one-stop higher ISO setting (D300). I guess the positioning is about just right.

Hehe... 15MP is just 1MP+ less than my 1Ds2-leh~!

Where is DA? Does the harmless old-man doesn't feel a real urge to go 1Ds3 now?

I certainly hope NOT. I'm praying 5D Mark II will be much much better . That is, if it's ever going to be announced soon. Canon, get off your butts and make that 5D II announcement soon

think to change all system to Nikon, Canon changes too fast.

The spec is impressive enough to compare head to head with d300... with aggressive pricing I think now Canonians need no reason to swap camp (for those looking for semi-pro body...)...

50D is just a matter of time... The 40D was streets behind Nikon D300, so Canon has to come up with a something worthy for this range of DX segment.

This is funny... I read from some pro on when should one upgrade the body...
He mentioned that it is only worth upgrading when the the megapixels increase by 50% or more... among other things.

Hmm...just sold my 40D 3 days ago and back to using my no-megapixel-camera (a.k.a film camera)

Still only 95% VF coverage, still no weather sealing, and still only 9 AF points.

D300 has all the above covered, plus the AF from the D3.

15mp is going to consume CF cards like crazy!
