not realli excited by 5D Mk II

i waited for 6 monthz for the new 5D Mk II out... to my suprise i wasnt excited by it at all... its like i'm goin to meet jessica alba ... but when i do meet her, my "brother" respond wasnt encouraging... may b bcos she is alreadi married liaw... anyway tatz another story liaw..

i was suprise with 50D sudden appearance... may b cos i saw the 50D spec n roughly knowz 5D Mk II spec liaw... i was able to guess most of the 5D Mk II spec...

here some of my tots on 5D Mk II spec..

- 21mp... not excited... was hopin for 16mp actually....
- ISO 256000.... pretti much expected
- auto iso from 100 to 3200... a bit dissapointed... pls let me set my max iso
- 9 point focus points.... was hopin 9 cross point.. but if can focus accurately ok liaw...
- 3.9 frame/sec... dont care.. i'm not a sport shooter...
- HD video... got or dun hav .. more like icing on the cake
- weight 810g... a lot heavier than my 400d.. but its a full frame.. cant complain much...
- AF adjusment... i wont look at 5D Mk II without tiz function.. rather buy 50D

wish list for 5D Mk II
- pop up flash.. ok.. some of u may think pop up flash is for amateur.. but i hate to carry a big flash juz to do my fill flash job...

excited or not... probably i hav little choice for a full frame camera now... i wont look at sony at all... then jumpin to the dark side did cross my mind... but the dark side is usin sony sensor..

nikon body.. sony inside

not itchy yet, 9 point af, etc. only.

12MP enough, do not need 21MP.

Please keep being unexcited. That way I can get my hands on the new 5DMkII without having to queue up for it...

Re: not realli excited by 5D Mk II

*yawn* wonder what you guys would say if the 5D Mark.II looks exactly like a Nikon D700. Would it be, "Canon has made my dreams come through~!" or would it be, "There you go! Canon's playing catchup again!"

And now... anyone wanna see my 4yr+ old "over-Megapixeled" camera which is slower than a D700 with battery grip can do? Go out and shoot more... the more time you spent talking about gear is less time you spend on actual photography.

thats the way its supposed to be. my el cheapo cam has 100 AF points, only use one bcoz i dont wanna make my viewfinder like a Kelisa brake lamp my indonesian fren shoot with his 300D and each time he upload his images to the flickr, i feel like wanna dump my cam in the longkang...

Re: not realli excited by 5D Mk II

Sorry if I offend you guys, but my personal, non-nonsense opinions/experiences are as follows:

1. What do you expect from a semi pro body? A super computer?
2. Gearheads always talk cons of the specs.
3. A real photographer (be a wannabe, enthusiast, pro, super pro, god level pro) doesn't bitches about specs.
4. I've seen lots of works in Flickr that were shot only using PnS. How shame we are the dslr users.
5. Even if the manufacturer gives us 100 multi-crossed, super intelligent AF points, we would still complaint.
6. Even if we have a perfect body, we would still find reasons to bitch about. Normally we would target the lens, price, weight, you-name-it.
7. I've personally met a photographer who bought a semi-pro body because he thinks he can be a photo journalist automatically. Wow!
8. Go ask around and talk to the pros. You might be surprised what gears do they use. Or try google up Susan Striplings. Some of her works were shot using only d40.
You can also ask Mamantaro (our PMer, a wedding photog based in Melaka. Fellow Reptile™ ) and Padilopadilan what gears they're using.

Some of you might ask me back "Then why lar you use a MkIII. Use la 300D".
That was because I striked 4D.....

Re: not realli excited by 5D Mk II

sorry, a little mencelah here, but what good 9 AF point or 11 AF point? Coz people told me to focus at subject's eyes. But when Im using that 9 AF, I cant get to the eyes..So I always end up using center AF, focus on eyes & recompose.

Or my technique are actually mess up?

Re: not realli excited by 5D Mk II

I will place a pre-order for the 5D MKII soon. I was going to buy the 5D but decided to wait for this. Personally I like the 21mp and high ISO performance. I use a different camera for sport shooting so high frame rate and shutter lag is not an issue. For the price you get for this camera, you can't get everything. If Canon were to give some of you all the things you want, then you will bitch about the price then.

Sorry to disappoint you on this.
The 5D Mk II cannot set to this ISO value.

I would never understand how u guy manage to keep yourself excited by repeating same thing 1000x100000000x100000 times. And every time sure talked in a "high class tone". Is that the only way u know in order to show your superiority in photography?
whenever something not in agreement regarding gears, this type of statement will almost certainly appeared.

The last time i checked, Tan sri was a die hard pak si boh chou loyal Canon head

And none of the 1/3 or even 2/3 inch video cameras (costing 70-80k) can achieve the bokeh of any DSLR mated to a good prime fast lense. I have on order a Red camera costing more than 100k solely to achieve this filmic bokeh effect. Now I look forward to canceling this!

This is why this new waves of cameras started by Nikon D90 and now Canon 5D is game changing and will transform the industry!

I am willing to bet any amount of money what I can do with 5DM2 will look better than what can be achieved with Canon XLH1 (Kit costing more than 80k with lenses) we are using right now - even when its mated with Redrock M2. Less than 20k (5DM2) is a huge saving over 80K

Sheer waste? think again!
Just read Kamarul post, if what he says is true... hmm... maybe it's wrong to not feel excited
