Japanese Yen has appreciated very sharply recently. This has hit Japanese companies' profits hard. Don't expect the K-m or any new camera to be cheap anymore.

is pentax lenses more expensive than nikon lense?
for example nikon 18-200 would cost 3k new. how much would the pentax lense cost?

Shriro Malaysia in PJ is Pentax service center, my experience the service is good & fast.

K20D going cheap these days, going to drop below 3k.

Pentax service can usually be done by Shiriro, our Pentax official distributor.

Pentax vs Nikon lens, I think we would win in price. Nikon puts their Vibration Reduction in their lens, we have Shake Reduction in our camera bodies, so technically all our lenses have shake reduction, and we do not have to pay extra for that feature in our lenses.

yeah. thats is one of the main reason why i surveying to get K20D or the Olympus e520, simply because of the built it IS or shake reduction.
after readind reviews etc.. K20D is way way much better than Oly e520.
e-520 produce great colors though.

now i am eager to get the k20d asap.

If the KM selling price located closely to the K200D, it's hard for Pentax to push the sales. Eventually there will be an intramural fight between the family. Currently K200D Kits selling at RM19XX with 4GB card. So, consumer will fall in the contradiction to choose, unless they up the K200D selling price but it's suicide move.
KM was K2000 in US which is a level lower than K200D, so if the price overcut the upper model.... just think who will pay 65K for a persona if Waja still exists.

Yes, he is one of the founder of PM, Khoking.

You might need to send him message regarding the after sales service, cause some of the items is imported from Japan, Shriro might not able to cover the warranty.

I can vouch for the fact that Shriro has a quick response on the dSLR CS side. I had a problem with one of my pixels and it was repaired in less than a week, circa 3 days when initially I was prepared to loose it for 2 weeks!

As for lenses, generally, we are cheaper as you've already noticed due to the SR in the body, but the flip side is that it's also heavier there! But the biggest advantage? We can slap on every lens Pentax ever made, back to the 50's and STILL have SR!

FYI, am thinking of going after one of those 50mm old babies!

I seem to recall the figure of RM1700 being mentioned at the KL Fair, but my memory might be faulty. The special Fair price for the K200D kit was RM2000, by the way (normally RM2200).

Much as the Km looked cute, I think I'd still go for a K200D instead. The weather sealing would be a selling point for me.

Wild-assed guess - RM1750 to 1850. (Based on the difference between the K20D kit and K20D body on Shashinki.com and the RM2200 price for the K200D kit at Tarita/Low Yat.)

Km arrived Mid Valley...RM1999 kit set, dual kit RM2599, it's just official price and I didn't ask for discount yet....So should be less than that
