The IRS had me pay RM1.8K last December. It was a shortfall for 10-year period.

Shortfall for 10 years ? They should then pay you interest on top of the RM 1.8K. When I was a student in Australia working during the vacation, the Aust tax dept made a mistake in my tax return, I complained and they even paid me the interest for difference ! That is what I call govt service ! Hope our IRD will adopt that practice very soon.

Mid of 2008, I got a letter from IRD stating that they need to check my tax return ( I am expecting a tax refund ). Still no news from IRD on my tax refund. IRD is very slow when it is a tax refund but VERY QUICK when you owe them tax ! To top it off, they even have a tax penalty x% for late payment. One-sided justice !
