Make your SB600 become Salve

Hi DPnikon,

I already bought 1 from Digicolor today. I bought another more expensive 1 because i have tested the 1 u posted, not so good because the sensor not very accurate. sometime wont fire and i have to make sure the sensor facing my pop up flash then only fire.

the more expensive 1, it's sensor more sensitive. i tested 1.5 meter away from the salve, still can fire.

here is the picture:

Comparison Picture:
D70s in TTL mode + Salve SB600

D70s in Commander Code + wireless SB600

D70s pop up flash only

Re: Make your SB600 become Salve

I think what Phillip is trying to share is... the gadget can make any Nikon external flash to be used as slave, even while using small pns coolpix.

For those with D70 can enjoy commander feature but for D50 or coolpix this gadget can trigger remote flash.

i.e.
1. Imagine using this with coolpix and SB28.
2. Imagine D50 with built-in flash, SB600 & SB28. (If not mistaken - to use SB600 and SB28 concurrently, you need to buy 2 units to attach to both external flashes)

Or something like that.... I think!

What do you have on your hot shoe? Remote? Or SB-800?

Re: Make your SB600 become Salve

SU-4 feature in SB800 is different from Wireless mode in SB600.

when D70 in commander mode, the flash won't fire in full flash, it just blink and trigger the sb600 in wireless mode therefore in the picture "D70s in Commander Code + wireless SB600" you can only see the flash from left side and no flash at all from the front.

in SU-4 mode or with this little gadget attached to your sb600, your D70 will fire full flash and also trigger your salve flash. see picture: "D70s in TTL mode + Salve SB600"

We kindly request 'Portrait Guru TED' to show us if this cheap alternative can work for us who cannot afford studio lights etc.

Philip........... Very informative topic. Thanks for sharing. Try with slave more than 5 m or more away from camera.

David......... how to switch off pre-flash?

He had nothing on his D70 hotshoe. D70 was not in 'remote commander' mode for "D70s in TTL mode + Slave SB600" pic. The slave sensor was attached to the SB-600.

Hi, I am having the same setup like yours.

yes, i bought the salve unit for my SB600 and now i can enjoy full flash from my D70 and SB600. While you attached the salve unit to your SB600, you have to set your SB600 in Manual Mode in order to adjust the flash output power that suite you. normally i am using 1/16.

The flash unit available in 2 type. 1 is posted by DPnikon RM20 and the 1 i bought is RM40 which i found better quality and the sensor much more sensitive. Both are available in Digi Color.

avoid of using TTL or multiple, careful wen it comes to front or rear flash, just use only one flash output, the best way is to use M mode, GN or etc...

One SB-26 at my right, output @ 1 stop over from camera settings, positioned about 45 degrees to the subject. I used it built in slave. Another Sb-26 attached to the camera via a syn-cord, used as 2 stops under fill light (very subtle lifting of the shadows).

Client use it for their corporate profile.

Too much shadow for my liking, ted. Perhaps one more speedlight on the left (bottom) side to eliminate the shadows and give more highlight to the subject?
