Sadly the all important swivel capability really bring the points down. Beyond that, it will serve you well so long your are not expecting the flash range to be 1000km or will blind people eyes.

Support from the ist D up to K10D...that's all Pentax dSLR. The eyecup is a bit more protruded. Looks a bit strange but is a blessing since your face will not touch and grease you LCD screen. The 1.2X (it's actually 1.18x) magnificantion is good and sharp. You need to compare b4 and after to see the difference though. The best thing is the eyecup ring ( the portion that circle around your eye) is made of soft rubber material feel like silicon material...very spongy...very comfortable around you eye. Not sure if the eyecup material will withstand heat and constant use since it's made of soft rubber.

10-17mmFisheye_lg.jpg

When i received my fisheye, I was so amazed by it's built and weight. Trust me. I gives you confidence. Fisheye effect....it's either you love it or you hate it. You need to decide that 1st or at least understand how you plan to use it. Some prefer rectilinear but still go for it becos of the FOV and choose to edit the fisheye effect through software. I use it sparingly. It gives me a lot of new surprising composition becos of it wide FOV and distortion. CA is visible near corner at high contrast area. Unique to this lens, it has zoom capabililty 10-17mm allowing you to isolate your subject and also reduce the fisheye effect quite considerably. At 17mm, the angle of view drops from 180 to 100 degree...which is still wider then any widest rectiliner lenses out there.

It's not the best in class or speed but with ED component and such affordability, I see no reason why one should not get it.

It's a gem. Just hold it and look at the glass, you know what I mean. Use it in low light situation since it support F1.4. However, need to pay special attention on DOV especially when used at wide aperture.

Pentax-istDL.jpg

I would give a highly respected 7 point during mid 2005 when I purchased my DL in view of price and ergo perspective. But if it's to be reviewed with current offering, DL really lacks the punch in dust remover, shake reduction and better JPEG output arena. Recommendation is YES if back in Y2006. For now, unless someone is offering you at very cheap 2nd hand, it's difficult to see how it will gain any interest.
