Pros: Lightweight, super sharp
Cons: can't find any yet

This is the el-cheapo version if you don't have the means to get the AF-S 17-35mm F/2.8.

It's sharp from edge to edge, nice colours and contrast and nicely built. Best part is the weight. Very light.

Unfortunately, the hood is sold separately but it only costs RM78 from Shashinki. So no worries.

This is my general walkabout lens. I got it used at RM1,240. New one costs about RM1.8k

Pros: Compact, light
Cons: Plastic feel

This is one lens that I reckon beat the 17-55 f2.8 in sharpness. I get consistently sharp pics from this lens. It goes to show that 'cheap' lens aren't lousy lens. I take this one with me whenever I travel. When I need to impress fellow photographers, I take the 17-55 !!

Pros: sharp at f5.6 above, light weight, fast auto focus
Cons: distortion especially 18mm (FF), soft on corner when wide open

its a great lens for both digital and film, own this for shake of wide in film cam, if money is not an issue 17-35 is way to go.
